International Credit Union Day 2024

St. George’s, Grenada, October 8, 2024- On Thursday, October 17, 2024, credit unions in Grenada will join with credit unions worldwide in celebration of International Credit Union Day, an annual event to commemorate the credit union movement’s impact and achievements. This year marks the 76th anniversary of this annual event, which will be celebrated under the theme of “One World Through Cooperative Finance”.
Celebrations will be held at the Grenada National Stadium Car Park, St. George’s, with a march-past which begins at 1:00pm from Ariza Credit Union’s Car Park. There will be live entertainment along with food, drinks and other attractions.
Celebrations in Carriacou are scheduled to take place at the Hillsborough Tennis Court on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 2:00pm. There will be no march-past in Carriacou this year.
Several businesses have partnered with the GrenadaCreditUnions brand to offer discounts/specials to credit unions members throughout the month of October. Members can also win fantastic prizes during the GrenadaCreditUnions Trivia Fridays on the Grenada Co-operative League Ltd Facebook page.
International Credit Union (ICU) Day has been celebrated on the third Thursday of October since 1948. Each year, the event affords the opportunity to remember credit unions’ proud history and promote awareness of and support for credit unions and the financial cooperative difference.
Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives that provide an effective and viable alternative to for-profit financial institutions for more than 403 million members in 98 countries worldwide. More than 82,000 credit unions exist globally, providing a plethora of financial services for their members, recognized as a force for positive economic and social change.
